The Bible: God Wrote a Book
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. God communicated His love for us throughout the Scriptures and it is ultimately displayed in Jesus Christ. The Bible is to be used for doctrine and instruction. (John 5:39, 8:31-32; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:1-2, 4:12; 1Peter 1:25)
The Trinity: God, Three in One
We believe that God has existed throughout eternity as one substance in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They share equal power and authority while maintaining different functions. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Romans 8:9-11; James 2:19)
Eternity: Destination, Forever
We believe that the human spirit is eternal. Therefore, everyone will spend eternity in one of two destinations. Heaven will be for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, while those who have not, will spend forever in hell. (John 3:36, 5:24; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:12-15)
Man: God’s Image Bearers
We believe that man was created in God’s image. He was created with the sole purpose to glorify and worship his Creator. We also believe that this relationship was marred by sin, and as a result, that sin separates us from our Creator. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 86:9; Isaiah 43:7)
Salvation: Christ Alone
We believe that we can not save ourselves. We needed someone to save us from our sin. Jesus Christ did that over 2,000 years ago through His perfect life, death on the cross, and resurrection three days later. We believe that Christ is the only way to heaven. (John 3:16, 14:6; Acts 4:12; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Election: God’s Chosen
We believe that God determined from the beginning to save all who accept His gift of salvation. So, by faith in Christ one becomes His elect. (John 3:16; Romans 8:29; Ephesians 1:4, 12; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 3:9)
Perseverance: Believer’s Security
We believe that all who are truly saved are kept by God’s power. They are secure in Christ based on their personal, continued faith. It is God who does the saving and the keeping, but He does both on the sole condition of faith. (John 10:27-30, 15:6; 1 Timothy 1:19-20; Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:36; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 2 Peter 1:4-10; 2:20:22, Revelation 22:19)
The Church: God’s Community
We believe that the church should be an active extension of our Savior. We are to love one another and be grounded in the Scriptures, so we may become better suited to spread the Gospel to our community and beyond. The church is not merely a building but a family of like minded, Christ-loving individuals. (Matthew 5:14-16, 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Colossians 1:18)
Our first allegiance is to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. We desire to worship and glorify Him. This is the motivation which inspires us to reach the world with the message of salvation.
We believe Free Will Baptist doctrine, but gladly accept those of other Bible-believing backgrounds. We wish to cooperate with other groups who share our faith and zeal. Conformity to every detail of Free Will Baptist interpretation is not demanded, but we do anticipate agreement with fundamental doctrines. Our goal is best described by an ancient theologian who said, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
